Introduction:
The client’s request for a ‘jewel of a building’ lead a design decision to place the building at the back of an elongated site. A sculpted garden filled with artworks lies in front of the main elevation.
The building was conceived as an off-shutter concrete box. Care was taken to detail every shutter panel and ferrule hole. The building is an integration of Apple shop, offices, parking, and a service workshop. The building has proved to be incredibly successful, and has become the symbol of Apple quality in the commercial heart of the city. Simplicity of detail and material provides clarity and legibility of elements. Displacement ventilation was utilized to minimize service visibility internally. Service core was positioned on the side to ensure the floor space was free for future flexible use.
